A. Hi there, our website shows all of the cats currently available for adoption here: https://humanesocietysoco.org/adopt/cats/ Also, we usually suggest that all adopted cats are kept inside but occasionally may have a cat that we agree would be better off being indoor/outdoor. Hope this helps!

A: Consider finding your dog or cat another home instead of surrendering him/her to a shelter because it will be less stressful for your animal, allows you to play a part in uniting him/her with a new family, and makes additional space available for animals whose lives are immediately at risk in surrounding municipal shelters. Please utilize our Rehoming Packet and our free Adoptions by Owner website listings.
Owner Surrender Dogs: We accept owner-surrendered dogs by appointment as space allows. For availability and an appointment for your dog’s evaluation please call (707)-542-0882 Ext. 267.

A: We recommend getting in touch with your local animal control agency. The specific jurisdiction depends on where you found the animal. You can report the animal as found with them and see if anyone has reported them missing. They also might be able to check the animal for a microchip for you. You can list the animal on Craigslist, NextDoor.com, Facebook, or even make a flyer – visit this web page to see more resources: https://humanesocietysoco.org/lost-or-found-a-pet/
Please let us know if there’s anything else we can do to help.

A: If you find a kitten or litter of kittens who appear to be abandoned, take a deep breath and wait before scooping them up. Momma cat may be off in search of food, or in the process of moving her litter to safer digs. It’s important to determine if mom is coming back or if the kittens are truly abandoned. The kittens have a much better chance of survival when kept with their mother until weaned. If momma doesn’t come back contact the shelter that serves your area. They will be able to let you know where to take the kitten.
If you need help finding out where to bring them you can call our adoptions desk at (707) 542-0882
A: Please check our Lost and Found page for more information on how to find your pet.
A: Thank you for looking out for the bird/eggs! You can give the Bird Rescue Center a call at 707-523-2473 or the Sonoma County Wildlife Rescue at 707-992-0274 to get information on what to do.
A: I’m sorry your pet went missing, we know how stressful that can be. We usually recommend using FindingRover.com. It is a free site that you can post photos of your dog to and it uses facial recognition to see if there is match at a local shelter. Depending on where your dog was lost, you can also report it to Sonoma County Animal Services (SCAS). They take lost animal reports from anywhere in their jurisdiction (Santa Rosa City/unincorporated Sonoma County). There are also helpful resources on the Lost/Found portion of our website: https://humanesocietysoco.org/lost-or-found-a-pet/
