Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Are you open for adoptions? Can I come in and see the animals you have at the shelter?

A: Yes! Our animal viewing hours are:
Santa Rosa (707) 542-0882 Tues–Sun 12pm-5pm
Healdsburg (707) 431-3386 Mon–Sat 11pm–5pm

PLEASE NOTE: Animal viewing & visitation are available during Adoption Viewing Hours only. Habitat cleaning and animal feeding/walking take place before/after Adoption Viewing Hours, during which public access is restricted. Thank you for understanding.

Q: I’m interested in adopting an animal- do you have any dogs/cats/kittens/rabbits/guinea pigs?

A: All of our adoptable animals are shown on our website:
https://humanesocietysoco.org/available-animals/

If you aren’t seeing your perfect match then stay tuned, we will continue to post pets as they become available. Thank you!

Q: I'm interested in adopting a couple barn cats. Do you have any available?

A. We usually suggest that all adopted cats are kept inside but occasionally may have a cat that we agree would be better off being indoor/outdoor. Our website shows all of the cats currently available for adoption here: https://humanesocietysoco.org/adopt/cats/ If we do not currently have any cats available to adopt for barn placement, we highly suggest contacting Forgotten Felines of Sonoma County, https://www.forgottenfelines.com/ (707) 576-7999

Q: What are your adoption costs?

A: You can see our adoption fees at https://humanesocietysoco.org/adopt/

Q: I would like to sponsor a pet’s adoption, how do I do this?

A: That is great, thank you so much! You can call the shelter where the animal is residing and they can take a credit card payment over the phone.

Healdsburg shelter 707-431-3386
Thank you again for being so generous.

Q: My dog/cat got loose last night and I was wondering if you have him/her, if not, whom should I call?

A: I’m sorry your pet went missing, we know how stressful that can be. You can find helpful resources on the Lost/Found page of our website: https://humanesocietysoco.org/lost-or-found-a-pet/ Depending on where your dog was lost, you can also report it to Sonoma County Animal Services (SCAS). They take lost animal reports from anywhere in their jurisdiction (Santa Rosa City/unincorporated Sonoma County). Good luck finding your pet!
