This handsom fella is Rio. He is a 2-1/2 year old neutered male, 80 lbs., microchipped, housebroken, with all vaccinations up to date and in great health.

Genetic tests show he is a mix of Great Pyrenees, Maremma Sheepdog, Treeing Walker Coon Hound, and American Foxhound.

Rio is a sweet boy and would do well on a large property where he has room to roam, patrol, and protect.  He’s a great watchdog with a keen nose. He has not spent time around livestock.

Rio is super smart, quick to learn, loves to play, and gets along with other dogs of all sizes in social settings (his best friends are two female French Bulldogs).  One-on-one Rio does great on a leash and loves to go on walks or hikes. Rio can sometimes be reactive to people or other dogs while on a leash (but is fine while off leash).  Rio has not had any interaction with cats.  His limited exposure to children has been great.  Rio loves car rides.

The ideal home for Rio would be on a large, fenced property (with or without other dogs) where he has space to play, explore, and patrol.  He loves the outdoors, but also loves the comforts of home, family, and company.
