Disco is a roughly 4-year-old spaniel mix who I adopted from Oakland Animal Services about 3 years ago. He is extremely sweet, affectionate, and adorable — he loves playing fetch, jumping into your lap, or curling up on the couch watching TV. He is about 10 lbs and has very soft blonde fur and cute naturally crimped ear hairs. He can be a little wary with new people (especially men) but once he warms up, he is super sweet and just wants pets and to show off his tricks.

After city living for the last 3 years, Disco is in need of a quiet suburban or rural home with a yard. He has serious leash reactivity issues and is also reactive to outside sounds — right now we live in an apartment where there are constantly people and other dogs walking past our door, and it’s not possible for him to go outside without becoming stressed. Disco needs a quiet environment where he can relax, run around outside and sniff without stress. Disco is crate-trained and can be left alone for 4-5 hours; he does have some separation anxiety issues that I believe additional training could help, however, he would do well to live with a person or family who is home most of the time. We have worked with a few trainers and ultimately determined that his current noisy city environment is too stressful for him.

Disco does OK with other dogs his size (off-leash) and is able to go to daycare/boarding. He mostly keeps to himself (probably would benefit from more socializing!). He does not tolerate cats or small children. A home with only adults or older children and no cats would be ideal for him. We are looking for the right home for him that will let him relax, and an owner (or owners) who truly understand his behavioral needs.
